The moving image is related to the sculpture Family Portrait. It was shown as a part of the installation. The transformation of an object’s image over time seems to symbolize the transformation, forgetting, and recollection of our memories. The audio in the video features the sound of an accordion being practiced, heard from a window of the Schillerpark Housing Estate, located next to Schiller Park in the Wedding district of northern Berlin. This housing estate was built by Bruno Taut in 1920 and is operated by a non-profit cooperative housing association called “Genossenschaft.” Because the residents’ right to live there is protected, some families have lived in the estate for three generations. The light, melodic sound of the accordion resonates as a symbol of family and community. This building is now registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
